France 1824

Ever since its creation in the 19th century, Braquenié carpets and rugs have always served the greatest - Madam Clicquot ponsardin, Victor Hugo, Emperor Maximilien and Theodore Roosevelt. Many famous artists have contributed to the aesthetic heritage of Braquenié enhancing its unique and inimitable style.

Braquenié provides their customers with a haute-couture service, which is a highly specialized process. The diversity of qualities currently enables traditional carpets to be woven in small widths but also more up-to-date carpets mixing wool and silk in large widths. As for the rugs, they may be flat Aubusson-type, or have a softer velvet-like appearance cut using different techniques, Savonnerie-type hand-knotted or hand-tufted. The beauty of a rug lies in its design. This is why Braquenié very regularly work with their archive drawings.

France 1824

Braquenié, house founded in 1824, specialises in rugs. Towards 1830, it became the agent for a number of French and foreign factories producing Aubusson rugs and other types of carpet. This is why the Braquenié database, containing more than 5,000 documents, all media taken into account, includes many models of rugs heightened with gouache and carpets. More than 1,000 gouaches produced between the 19th and 20th centuries are kept in our Archives department, ranging from Louis XIII style to Art Deco. Models are varied, from small stylised motifs to oriental models to majestic leafy patterns. The quality of the archives and proposals from the designers meet the most demanding requests from professionals for Ambassadors, classified sites, hotels but also private residences.
